SAN DIEGO – El 3 de abril, la Asociación de Alzheimer San Diego e Imperial llevará a cabo el Foro de Investigación Latinos y Alzheimer, un evento clave dentro del simposio más amplio de Latinos y Alzheimer de la Asociación de Alzheimer 2024. El foro tiene como objetivo abordar el problema crítico de la demencia dentro de la comunidad hispana, donde la prevalencia es 1.5 veces mayor que en la población blanca.
El Foro de Investigación, que actúa como precursor del simposio más grande los días 4 y 5 de abril, proporcionará información sobre los esfuerzos de investigación en curso y nuevos descubrimientos. El enfoque está en mejorar la comprensión del Alzheimer y mejorar la atención para los individuos latinos/hispanos afectados por la demencia y sus familias.
Los temas destacados incluyen la intersección de cultura, bilingüismo y cognición; enfoques innovadores para el cuidado y el apoyo; ensayos clínicos en curso específicos para individuos latino/a/e/x; estrategias de reclutamiento para participantes latino/a/e/x en investigaciones y ensayos clínicos; biomarcadores en poblaciones latino/a/e/x; y acceso a terapias emergentes.
El programa se presentará en inglés con subtítulos en español, y habrá sesiones de preguntas y respuestas en inglés y español.

SAN DIEGO, CA – On April 3rd, the Alzheimer’s Association San Diego & Imperial Chapter is set to host the Latinos & Alzheimer’s Research Forum, a pivotal event within the broader Alzheimer’s Association 2024 Latinos & Alzheimer’s Symposium. The forum aims to tackle the critical issue of dementia within the Hispanic community, where the prevalence is 1.5 times higher than in the White population.
The Research Forum, which acts as a precursor to the larger symposium on April 4th and 5th, will provide insights into ongoing research efforts and new discoveries. The focus is on enhancing the understanding of Alzheimer’s and improving care for Latino/Hispanic individuals affected by dementia and their families.
Highlighted topics include the intersection of culture, bilingualism, and cognition; innovative approaches to caregiving and support; ongoing clinical trials specific to Latino/a/e/x individuals; recruitment strategies for Latino/a/e/x participants in research and clinical trials; biomarkers in Latino/a/e/x populations; and access to emerging therapies.
The program will be presented in English with Spanish subtitles, and both English and Spanish Q&A sessions will be available.
