SAN MARCOS – Más de 14,000 estudiantes se están preparando para graduarse de los colegios comunitarios del condado de San Diego e Imperial esta primavera, marcando un hito significativo en sus trayectorias educativas.
Entre los graduados destacados se encuentra Antoinette Albert de MiraCosta College, quien, a pesar de estar en cuidado de crianza desde la infancia, ha logrado un GPA perfecto de 4.0 y planea seguir una carrera como tecnóloga de resonancia magnética. En Grossmont College, Zachary Mass compartirá su viaje desde ser expulsado en octavo grado hasta convertirse en el orador estudiantil. Su objetivo es transferirse a la Universidad Estatal de San Diego y seguir una carrera en transmisiones deportivas. San Diego City College dará la bienvenida a la exalumna Katya Echazaretta, la primera mujer nacida en México en el espacio, como oradora. Echazaretta anteriormente trabajó como ingeniera eléctrica en el Laboratorio de Propulsión a Chorro de la NASA.
La Dra. Star Rivera-Lacey, Superintendente/Presidenta del Palomar College y presidenta de la Asociación de Colegios Comunitarios de los Condados de San Diego e Imperial (SDICCCA), elogia a los graduados por su arduo trabajo y dedicación, expresando orgullo por sus logros. “Estamos orgullosos de cada uno de nuestros graduados de colegios comunitarios en toda la región”, declaró la Dra. Star Rivera-Lacey. “Han trabajado muy duro para alcanzar sus metas educativas, y sus futuros son brillantes.”

SAN MARCOS – Over 14,000 students are gearing up to graduate from San Diego and Imperial County community colleges this spring, marking a significant milestone in their educational journeys.
Among the notable graduates is Antoinette Albert from MiraCosta College, who, despite being in foster care since childhood, has achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA and plans to pursue a career as an MRI technologist. At Grossmont College, Zachary Mass will share his journey from being expelled in eighth grade to becoming the student speaker. He aims to transfer to San Diego State University and pursue a career in sports broadcasting. San Diego City College will welcome alumna Katya Echazaretta, the first Mexican-born woman in space, as a speaker. Echazaretta previously worked as an electrical engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey, Superintendent/President of Palomar College and chair of the San Diego and Imperial Counties Community College Association (SDICCCA), commends the graduates for their hard work and dedication, expressing pride in their achievements. “We are proud of each of our community college graduates across the region,” Dr. Star RiveraLacey stated. “They have worked so hard to reach their educational goals, and their futures are bright.”
