Carlsbad – Pop Up Picnic Co. is set to enchant Carlsbad once again with the return of PICNICS + FLOWERS, a unique picnic experience at The Flower Fields from March 23 to May 12, 2024. Every Saturday and Sunday, guests can indulge in an upscale outdoors adventure featuring curated bites, live music, and breathtaking views of The Flower Fields and the San Diego coastline.
Owner Lauren Kimmons, who has been at the helm of Pop Up Picnic Co. for almost 12 years, shared the journey behind this extraordinary event during an interview. The idea for PICNICS + FLOWERS originated from Kimmons’ background in planning weddings and specialty events. “Why can’t we go and enjoy these beautiful places around us for everyday occasions? So, in years of doing our regular pop-up picnic, we’ve just started to cultivate little wishlist locations, and The Flower Fields was always at the top of that list,” she shared.
Kimmons expressed her excitement about evolving the event based on the feedback from the previous year. “One thing that may be the biggest change is making it more family-friendly. We have a lot of couples and a lot of girlfriends getting together but we also want to make it easier for people to bring their kids. So, we added a Family Fun Zone. They have games, coloring activities, and just a little bit more colorful fun to inspire them.” she shared during the interview.
Responding to the previous year’s success, the event now boasts more shade structures, reserved parking, a private entrance, complimentary wagon rides, and an expanded menu. Kimmons emphasized, “As long as our guests are having fun, and enjoying themselves and find value in the experience, that is what we push for. We want this to be the best thing so that every year they feel like they can’t miss it.”
The culinary experience at PICNICS + FLOWERS has been elevated this year, featuring a tasting menu with options like a trio of sandwiches, a trio of salads, charcuterie, and desserts. Refreshing beverages, including hibiscus-lemon aguas frescas and mint-infused water, accompany the delectable bites.
As PICNICS + FLOWERS enters its second year, Lauren Kimmons envisions its continued evolution. ” Every year, I’m definitely one to take what we’ve got and then just keep pushing it forward and keep making things better,” she stated.

Así que agregamos una Zona de Diversión Familiar con juegos, actividades de colorear y un poco más de diversión colorida para inspirarlos”, compartió durante la entrevista.
En respuesta al éxito del año anterior, el evento ahora cuenta con más estructuras de sombra, estacionamiento reservado, una entrada privada, paseos en carro de cortesía y un menú ampliado. Kimmons enfatizó: “Mientras nuestros invitados se diviertan y disfruten y encuentren valor en la experiencia, eso es lo que buscamos. Queremos que sea lo mejor para que cada año sientan que no pueden perdérselo”.
La experiencia culinaria en PICNICS + FLOWERS se ha elevado este año, presentando un menú de degustación con opciones como un trío de sándwiches, un trío de ensaladas, charcutería y postres. Bebidas refrescantes, como aguas frescas de hibisco y limón y agua con menta, acompañan los deliciosos bocados.
A medida que PICNICS + FLOWERS entra en su segundo año, Lauren Kimmons visualiza su continua evolución. “Cada año, definitivamente soy de las que toma lo que tenemos y simplemente sigue avanzando, mejorando las cosas”, declaró.
