San Diego – In a heartwarming collaboration aimed at improving the lives of both homeless individuals and their beloved pets, Father Joe’s Village and Helen Woodward Animal Center’s program Pets Without Walls opened their mobile veterinary clinic doors Thursday morning. This initiative not only helps promote animal welfare but also recognizes the vital role that pets play in the lives of their owners.

The Importance of Pets to the Homeless

For many San Diego homeless individuals, their pets are not just animals; they are cherished companions and a source of emotional support. These pets offer a sense of stability and companionship that can be difficult to find elsewhere. By providing veterinary services, Pets Without Walls acknowledges the profound impact that pets have on the lives of the homeless and aims to alleviate any additional burdens on their owners.

The Collaboration: Pets Without Walls and Father Joe’s Village

Father Joe’s Village, a cornerstone of support to the homeless in the San Diego community, teamed up with Pets Without Walls to extend their support to the four-legged companions of the community’s homeless population. Services for the walk-up clinic includes regular check-ups, vaccinations, microchipping and spay and neutering (by appointment).
