SAN FRANCISCO — Latinas in Tech Summit, the nation’s largest technology event for Latina women, is set to convene Latina leaders from the technology sector to discuss challenges, opportunities, and future growth. In its eighth annual edition, the meeting includes two components: an in-person session on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, and another online session with specific virtual programming on Friday, May 17, 2024.

The two-day conference will feature over 80 speakers and is expected to attract more than 1,500 attendees. Keynote speakers will include Mexican actress Karla Souza, winner of an International Emmy Award with a thriving career in Hollywood, and Joanna Peña-Bickley, a pioneer in AI-assisted generative design and a key member of the team responsible for creating Alexa.

Presented under the theme “Her Tech, Her Future,” this year’s summit aims to empower Latinas in the tech industry by providing valuable insights, resources, and opportunities. The summit will address three themes: the “Boss Women” theme, tailored for Latina tech leaders or those aspiring to leadership positions; the technical theme, focused on crafting resumes and professional development strategies; and the AI theme, highlighting the latest advances in AI.

“Nearly 60 percent of our members are in the early stages of their careers, and we strive to provide them with access to information and resources that will help them advance in technology fields,” said Rocío van Nierop, Executive Director of Latinas in Tech. “Latinas lead over 2 million businesses, but receive less than 2 percent of all venture capital funding. Only about 28 percent of Latina founders are able to secure any kind of funding through traditional channels.”

During the summit, $60,000 will be awarded to three startups led by Latinas through the Latinas in Tech Startup Competition. Awards include non-dilutive cash prizes of $30,000, $20,000, and $10,000 for the top three winners.

Prominent tech leaders, entrepreneurs, and companies will also be recognized through the LiT Awards, honoring individuals and organizations making notable contributions to the tech industry and promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.

The Latinas in Tech Summit event is proudly sponsored by Comcast, Deloitte, Pinterest, and Salesforce at the Creator level, among others.
