Sesame Place San Diego Celebrates First Responders with Free Admission during Super Grover’s Everyday Heroes Weekends in January


SAN DIEGO, CA  – Sesame Place® San Diego, the only theme park on the West Coast based entirely on the award-winning show Sesame Street, is celebrating those that help and serve the community during Super Grover’s Everyday Heroes Weekends running every Saturday and Sunday in January, plus Monday, January 16. The ALL-NEW limited-time event will allow guests to see their favorite Sesame Street friends in their everyday hero costumes and will include a hero dance party, storytime, parade, special community members, giveaways and more, in addition to the daily theme park offerings.

To thank our local community heroes, Sesame Place San Diego is offering one-day free admission tickets to first responders including police officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians during Super Grover’s Everyday Heroes Weekends. First responders must register online at ID.me in advance and verify their proof of service through the ID.me qualification process, and tickets must be redeemed by January 29. Sesame Place works with ID.me to provide an online verification in a secure and privacy-enhancing manner. First responders must have a valid active military ID to participate. First responders will also have the option to purchase up to three tickets at 50 percent off to share with friends and family members to attend the weekend event.

Super Grover’s Everyday Heroes Weekend highlights include:

Every weekend, uniformed members of local police departments, fire departments, and healthcare services will be at the park for attendees to Meet an Everyday Hero. Each organization will have members present to meet guests, take photos, and answer questions. Guests can get an up-close look at first responder vehicles, including a K9 unit on select dates. Organizations will vary by day and will be listed on the Sesame Place website and app.

Visitors are encouraged to Dress Up as an Everyday Hero to support the heroes in their lives, and Sesame Street capes will also be available for purchase at Hooper’s Store. Costume masks and toy weapons are not allowed.

Guests can dance, sing, and rock along to their favorite tunes with alongside Elmo, his furry friends, and heroes from neighborhood at this Everyday Hero Dance Party! Zoe will be dressed as a police officer, Elmo as a firefighter, and of course, Grover in his Super Grover costume.

No day is complete at Sesame Place San Diego without photos and meeting special friends. Every weekend, guests can check the daily schedule for Meet & Greet with Sesame Street Friends for the opportunity to meet their favorite characters in their hero attire.

Book lovers and readers can gather at Abby’s Garden for Storytime with Super Grover and hear Love the Fur You’re In, a delightful story about being true to one’s self and living life with a Sesame Street perspective. After the story is complete, guests have a chance to take a picture with a furry friend from Sesame Street and the option to purchase the book at Hooper’s Store.

Every weekend guests can also visit the Appreciation Station and sign a large card of gratitude to first responders, thanking them for their commitment and dedication to helping our communities daily.

As part of the daily Sesame Street Party Parade, guests can sing and dance along with a broad range of Everyday Heroes including police officers, firefighters, trash collectors, mail carriers, and more.
