City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges ranked among top in U.S. for Hispanic students

(Photo credit: Mesa College) San Diego - San Diego City College, San Diego Mesa College, and San Diego Miramar College have been recognized as among the top 100 colleges in the country for enrollment of Hispanic/Latino students, according to a ranking by Hispanic Outlook on Education Magazine. Among two-year colleges across the United States, San Diego City College was ranked 35th, while Miramar College was ranked 68th. Mesa College was ranked 45th for four-year colleges and universities. The figures are based on enrollment during the 2020-21 academic year, using data from the U.S. Department of Education. U.S. Department of Education Awards Nearly $1 Billion to 56 States and Territories to Provide Students with Safer and Healthier Learning Environments

The U.S. Department of Education announced awards totaling nearly $1 billion through the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act (BSCA). The Stronger Connections grants will help schools provide all students with safe and supportive learning opportunities and environments that are critical for their success. Through the BSCA, and under the leadership of President Biden, Congress provided $1 billion in Title IV, Part A formula funding to state educational agencies (SEAs) to develop state grant programs to provide students with safer and healthier learning environments. Habrá una variedad de actividades, desde música hasta exhibiciones, dentro del distrito de colegios comunitarios de San Diego. La lista de universidades incluye City, Mesa, Miramar y College of Continuing Education. El mes de la Herencia Hispana se extiende del 15 de septiembre al 16 de octubre y las celebraciones de la universidad coincidirán con estas fechas. Trejo came to speak at Southwestern College on Friday with guest host Rick Najera of Latino Thought Makers. He also came in support of Southwestern's Restorative Justice Program. MiraCosta College Nursing Students Serving on the Front Lines of COVID-19 Vaccination Effort

Licensed vocational nursing students also pitched in at a Sharp Healthcare-operated vaccination center at California State University, San Marcos, a center where MiraCosta College Nursing Program alumna Shelby Miller served as a nurse lead.
