After a year of community feedback, San Diego unveils plans for a revamped Ocean Beach Pier. Costs are estimated at $170-190 million, with construction timelines pending.
SAN DIEGO – The City of San Diego has lifted the curtain on the favored design concept for a prospective Ocean Beach Pier replacement, marking the culmination of over a year of community involvement and public input.
The proposed design encompasses a pier stretching approximately 2,000 feet in length, boasting an average deck width of 22 feet. Mirroring the familiar shape of the current pier, it retains its iconic curving arms on the western end. The Ocean Beach Pier Renewal project aims to address the aging pier’s deteriorating condition, exacerbated by damage sustained during a storm in October 2023. El diseño propuesto abarca un muelle de aproximadamente 2,000 pies de longitud, con un ancho de plataforma promedio de 22 pies.
