Chula Vista - The City of Chula Vista, Envision Broadway and students from South Bay Youth 4 Change joined the South Bay Sustainable Communities Network recently in the 20th annual Beautify Chula Vista Day neighborhood cleanup. Hundreds of volunteers participated in beautification activities throughout the city during the Saturday morning event. The SBY4C students, who earned community service hours for participating, wanted to empower residents to keep their communities safe and clean, and encourage them to team up to keep their city beautiful. This unique event offered an extraordinary opportunity for local skywatchers to witness the magic of the cosmos. The event took place with an 8 a.m. kickoff time. To observe the full annular eclipse, one had to be within the path of totality, a band that extended from Oregon down through New Mexico. SAN DIEGO – Roads are being repaired in neighborhoods across the City of San Diego as part of the Transportation Department's ongoing slurry seal program. This week, City crews will continue resurfacing streets in and around Valencia Park, University Heights, Hillcrest, Ridgeview and Emerald Hills with work happening in those locations over the next three weeks.  Preventing the deterioration of streets is vital to improving the overall condition of San Diego's network of roads. It reduces the need for a more costly asphalt overlay and reconstruction for badly deteriorated streets.
