National City – In a heartwarming celebration that coincided with the final days of Hispanic Heritage Month, McDonald’s partnered with Mike Alfaro, the creator of Millennial Lotería, to bring a special edition of the iconic “lotería” game to its restaurants. This special McDonald’s edition of the game featured imagery inspired by the iconic fast-food chain, including characters like El Hamburglar, La Quarter Pounder, El McGriddles, and El Crew Member. While this unique edition of the game was not available for sale, it was made accessible to fans in Southern California through social media giveaways and in-restaurant game nights held during the closing moments of Hispanic Heritage Month.
The National City McDonald’s, located at 2140 E Plaza Blvd., hosted one of the exclusive game nights on Thursday, offering customers and fans the chance to participate in McDonald’s Lotería and win special prizes.
Owner/Operator Sabina Campos shared her thoughts on the collaboration, saying, “We’re thrilled to have partnered with Mike Alfaro for this McDonald’s collaboration. This is a game that’s really important to Latinos that you learn with your family over time. I thought it’d be a really fun idea to bring our community into a restaurant with a game that we love… and make sure people know that McDonald’s is all about community.”
Campos emphasized that this partnership aimed to unite the local community, explaining, “Communities like ours; groups of people that I see every morning, every evening. My evening team is here and by team I mean the people that come and sit in our lobby every day. They come in every day, they have breakfast, and we chat with them. Sometimes this group comes back for dessert and coffee and hangs out in our restaurant all day. We have community tables in these locations for a community to come together. To sit together and enjoy their time.”
As Hispanic Heritage Month drew to a close, the partnership between McDonald’s and Millennial Lotería provided an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy a cherished pastime. This event highlighted the significance of tradition and the sense of belonging that comes with it, reinforcing the importance of shared cultural experiences.
